Posted February 08, 2019 06:25:15The Holden Commodore is one of the most popular cars on the road, with the car taking over the top spot in the Australian sales chart this year and having an estimated $2.5 billion in sales.
But the Commodore has only just started to get some love from its rivals.
The 2018 Ford Mustang GT and 2018 Ford Shelby GT500 are among the many new models which have launched this year.
And now Holden has unveiled the new 2017 Holden Commodore, a car that will take on the likes of the Mercedes-AMG GT350 and the Ford Mustang.
The Commodore is a big car, the width of which measures 7.8 metres and the height of which stands at 5.3 metres.
And that’s just the body.
The front end is made of carbon fibre, the sides are made of steel, and the rear of the car is made from a titanium alloy.
It also has a twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V6 engine.
It’s got a 3,000km range, is powered by a six-speed manual transmission and has a price tag of $25,990.
The 2017 Commodore has a 0-62mph time of 3.9 seconds, which is a good result for a car of its size.
But how much better is it compared to the likes on offer?
First things first, the new Commodore looks very different.
As with most new models, the car comes with a host of other changes.
Its new front bumper has a chrome-coloured aluminium trim that’s been done in a special paint that’s lighter than the regular one.
The new headlights have a red accent, and a new chrome grille has been fitted to the front grille.
It comes standard with a 5-litres V6 petrol engine, which will get a performance boost with the introduction of the turbocharged engine.
The car also gets a new rear wing, which should help with cornering stability.
The standard rear seats have been upgraded with adjustable side bolsters, and they also come standard with the optional adjustable front seat cushion.
But what’s really interesting is that the Commodore’s new wheels have been given a titanium finish.
Its a design decision that gives the car a more rustic look, which we’ve seen on previous cars.
We like the look of the new wheels, but they look a little too shiny for our tastes.
